Dr. Folkman

Dr. Folkman, an Albuquerque Native, received his B.S. Degree from New Mexico State University in 1977 before going on to study optometry at the University of Houston College of Optometry. He interned at the UHCO clinic and then returned to Albuquerque to intern at the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute. After receiving his optometry degree in 1981, Dr. Folkman became a full partner in the practice of Dr. Charles R. Briggs, a pioneer in contact lens development and manufacturing. In early 1987, Dr. Folkman took over Dr. Brigg’s practice. 
Dr. Folkman has done extensive research on contact lenses and served as a consultant for Sunsoft Corp., an Albuquerque manufacturer of soft contact lenses. He was board certified in ocular therapeutics in 1985. Dr. Folkman is a member of the American and New Mexico Optometric Association.

Dr. Vise

Dr. David Vise came to New Mexico in 1992 after growing up in Missouri. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with minors in business and music from Drury University in 1987. In 1992 he graduated from the University of Missouri School of Optometry. From there he came to New Mexico to do a hospital based optometry residency at the Albuquerque VA Hospital. After the residency he was the first optometrist to work at University Hospital here in Albuquerque from 1993 to 1996. From 1996 to 2009 he took care of patients for Lovelace in Santa Fe and Albuquerque. In January of 2009 he joined Dr. Folkman to form Folkman Vise & Associates Eye Clinic. 
Dr. Vise was board certified in ocular therapeutics in 1993. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the New Mexico Optometric Association. He enjoys hiking, mountain biking, and snowboarding. He is also an active musician as a drummer and vocalist in a popular local band and does some acting occasionally.

Anna

Anna, an Albuquerque native, is the accounts manager at Dr. Folkman’s office. Though new to the medical field, Anna enjoys working with patients and learning more about the field of optics. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, biking, running, and is an AASI certified snowboard instructor in the winter.

Sara

Sara, one of Dr. Folkman's receptionists, was born and raised here in Albuquerque, NM. Sara loves working with patients to make sure their visits are as perfectly pleasant as possible. In her free time Sara likes to hang out with her dog, Kaiser, and enjoys the occasional cardio salsa session.

Abby, CPO

Abby has been working in optometry for two years, but has been in the medical field for about 5 years. She studied at PIMA for her Medical Assistant Certification and went on to finish an Associate of Applied Science in Health Care Administration at the end of 2010. She is an AOA Certified Paraoptometric technician.

Jason

 Jason is Dr. Vise’s patient technician and receptionist at location. Although he is new to optical, he enjoys learning more about this exciting field and working with patients. Jason is currently working towards achieving his Basic Optician Certification in 2012 and hopes to continue on to attain his Advanced Certification. In his free time Jason enjoys hiking, cooking, and spending time with his family.

Vince

Vince, Dr. Folkman's optician, has been in the optical industry for over ten years. He started as an optician and has worked in almost every facet of the industry from optician to LASIK technician. And, he has achieved certifications at every step along the way. In his spare time he enjoys working out, basketball and football, as well as spending time with his family.
